ACR Poker Not Working? Fixes for the Client and Login (2026)
Most ACR problems fall into a few patterns: the client hangs on launch, the connection drops mid-session or a login from a new device stalls. Here is how to work through each one before you contact support.

Start with the basics
ACR runs natively on Windows and macOS, with separate Mac builds for Apple Silicon and Intel, and the wrong Mac build runs noticeably worse. The room does not publish detailed hardware requirements, so if an older computer struggles, close heavy background programs and open fewer tables.
The client must run directly from your own drive. Virtual machines, remote desktop tools and screen-sharing software are prohibited by ACR’s security rules and can stop the client from loading or flag the account for review.
Stuck on “Checking Client Version”
This is the most frequent launch problem, and ACR’s own answer is a clean reinstall:
- 1Quit ACR completely, including any icon left in the system tray or the Mac menu bar.
- 2Uninstall the poker application in Windows Settings, or drag it from Applications to the Trash on a Mac.
- 3Clear your web browser’s cookies and cache, as the ACR help centre recommends.
- 4Download a fresh installer from the official ACR site — SetupACR.exe for Windows or the .dmg that matches your Mac’s chip.
- 5Install, launch and log in; balance, rank and settings live on the server, not on the computer.
Disconnections at the tables
ACR’s advice begins with your line: ask the internet provider about speed and especially packet loss, and switch from Wi-Fi to an Ethernet cable where you can. Updating the network adapter drivers is the next step if drops continue.
When you report a disconnection, include a screenshot plus your screen name, tournament ID, hand ID, table number and the time. Precise details let support check the server logs instead of sending you generic advice.
Firewall, antivirus and HUD conflicts
Security software sometimes quarantines a freshly updated client or blocks its connection. Add the ACR folder as an exception and allow the program through the firewall rather than switching your protection off.
After a client update, a HUD may stop reading tables until the tracker itself is updated, and ACR keeps a dedicated FAQ entry about this. Keep trackers current, because outdated versions that no longer meet ACR’s specifications appear on the prohibited list.
Since October 2026 ACR has been rolling out Screen Shield, which hides WPN tables from screen-capture and screen-sharing programs. If a recording or streaming tool suddenly shows a blank table, that protection is the likely reason.
Login and cashier problems
A login from a new device triggers an email with a verification link from ACR’s device manager; open it, then try again. If the message does not arrive, check the spam folder before writing to support.
If the lobby works but the cashier stays blank, clearing the browser cache and restarting the client usually helps, because the cashier is a web component. Locked out entirely? Use the password reset in the client and turn on two-factor authentication once you are back in.
VPNs and restricted locations
ACR strongly discourages VPNs because they can trigger a security flag and weaken account protection; anyone who uses one in a permitted location is asked to notify support by email and accept the risk. Playing through a VPN from a country or US state where ACR is unavailable is a breach of the terms and leads to account closure.
When travelling, play only where the room is legally offered. If your office or university network routes traffic through another country, tell support before logging in from there.
FAQ
01Will reinstalling ACR wipe my money or history?
No. Your balance, rank and settings sit on ACR’s servers, so a reinstall replaces only local files. Hand histories saved by your tracker stay in the tracker’s own folder.
02Can I run ACR in a virtual machine or over remote desktop?
No. Both are banned by the security rules, and the client may refuse to run while such software is active.
03Does ACR have a phone line for technical help?
No. Help comes through the virtual assistant, a contact form and email, so attach screenshots and hand IDs to get a faster answer.
